The association works to provide general geographical knowledge, conduct scientific research, and disseminate geographical culture, with a particular focus on addressing issues related to the geography of Libya, its resource development, and its economic and social progress.

• It also focuses on studying the geographical conditions of Arab countries and reviving Arab and Islamic geographical heritage.

  Geographical surveys.

• Geographical expeditions.
• Authoring and publishing studies, research, and lectures, and issuing a geographical journal.
• Establishing a library containing books, aerial photographs, maps, bulletins, and technical equipment acquired by the association to facilitate reading and scientific research.
