First: Publication Procedures Guide for the Journal of the Libyan Geographical Society.

1- The researcher must create an account on the journal’s website, fill out the forms available there, and then upload their research. If this is not possible, the researcher can send an electronic copy in Word format and another file in PDF format to:

2- The researcher is obligated to fill out the declaration form, in which he declares that the research is not extracted from any book or scientific thesis, and has not been previously published or submitted for publication.

3- The journal’s editorial board records the research in a special register and informs the researcher of the receipt of his research.

4- The research is presented to the editorial board, and after ensuring that it conforms to the terms and conditions of publication, it is referred to two expert reviewers. The evaluation is done according to a form that is sent to the reviewer, in which he shows his decision regarding whether to approve the research for publication or not, and to express formal and substantive observations about the research.

5. Research papers and related reviewer reports are treated with strict confidentiality.

6. In the event of differing reviews (positive and negative), the research paper will be referred to a third reviewer for a final decision regarding its acceptance for publication.

7. The editorial board will notify the researcher of the revisions requested by the reviewers, and the researcher must make the required changes within two weeks of receiving the feedback.

8. The editor-in-chief will inform the researcher whether or not their research has been accepted for publication.

Second: Terms and Conditions for Publication in the Libyan Geographical Society Journal.

  • The journal accepts research papers in either Arabic or English.
  • The journal publishes original and innovative scientific research in various branches of geography and related sciences.
  • The research language must be sound, its ideas coherent, and free from spelling and grammatical errors. The accuracy of Quranic verses and poetic lines must be ensured.
  • The journal publishes summaries of approved scientific papers after the researcher has prepared them anew for publication in the journal. In this case, the researcher must indicate this and provide full data about the paper or thesis, the date of its discussion, and the institution in which the discussion took place.
  • The journal publishes biographies of pioneers in geography, including their personal and professional data and their research contributions.

The researcher must adhere to the following guidelines:

1-The research must be submitted electronically in Word format on A4 paper with 3 cm margins on all sides.

2-Arabic research papers should be written in Traditional Arabic font, size 14, with single line spacing. Main and subheadings should be written in the same font, size 16, and in bold. English research papers should be written in Times New Roman font, size 12, with single line spacing. Main and subheadings should be written in the same font, size 14, and in bold.

3-The full title of the research, the name of the researcher(s), their place of work, and their email address are written on the first page of the research.

4-The research paper must be accompanied by two summaries, one in Arabic and one in English, each not exceeding 300 words, and each summary must be followed by keywords not exceeding six words.

5-In each new paragraph, leave a 1cm indent for the first line.

6-The number of pages of the research, including figures, diagrams, tables and appendices, should not exceed (35) pages.

7-The research pages, including pages for maps, figures, and appendices, are given sequential numbers at the bottom of the page from the beginning of the research to the end.

8-The research should have an introduction and a methodological framework in which the problem that the researcher wishes to address through study and analysis is raised, and it should also contain the importance of the research, its objectives, hypotheses, limitations, methods used in the research, and previous studies.

9-The research should end with a conclusion that includes the most important findings and recommendations.

10-Research headings are divided as follows:

Main headings (First, Second, Third, …).

Subheadings stemming from the main heading (1, 2, 3, …).

Subsections stemming from a subheading (A, B, C, D, …).

Subsections stemming from a sub-section (A/1, A/2, A/3, …).

(B/1, B/2, B/3, …).

The rules for citing references and sources apply as follows:

Footnotes:

The APA style is used, which requires citing the source of information in parentheses, followed by the author’s surname, date, and page number. For example: (Al-Qaziri, 2007, p. 21).

As for the bibliography, it must be arranged alphabetically by type of reference as follows:

Books:

The reference begins with the author’s last name, followed by their first names, the year of publication, the book’s title in bold, the publisher, the place of publication, and the edition number (do not mention edition number 1 if the book has only one edition), as in the following examples:

– Al-Qaziri, Saad Khalil, (2007), Urban Studies, Dar Al-Nahda Al-Arabiya, Beirut.

– Dakhil, Muftah Ali, and Sayala, Anwar Abdullah, (2001), Introduction to Surveying, Modern University Office, Alexandria.

– Safi Al-Din, Muhammad, et al., (1992), Economic Resources, Dar Al-Nahda Al-Arabiya, Cairo.

Edited Books:

If the reference is a book containing a collection of research by different authors, write the author’s last name followed by their first names, then the year of publication, then the chapter title in bold, then the word “in,” then the book title, then the name of the book’s editor with the abbreviated word “edited” before it, then the publishing house, and the place of publication.

Scientific Journals and Publications:

The author’s last name followed by their first name, then the title of the article in bold, then the name of the journal and the publishing house, then the place of publication, the volume number (if available), the issue number, and the year of publication.

Academic Theses:

The author’s last name followed by their first name, the year, the thesis title in bold, the type of thesis (Master’s/Doctoral), followed by “unpublished” in parentheses, then the department, faculty, university name, and city where it is located.

Government sources and documents:

If the source is a government report or document, the footnote should be written as follows:

– Ministry of Planning, (2012), Final Results of the 2012 National Population Survey, Statistics and Census Authority, Tripoli.
