Abstract

Africa is called the Black Continent because it is the original homeland of the Black race, but not all of Africa's inhabitants are Black, as its northern half is home to a large part of the Mediterranean element belonging to the White Caucasian race, which is what prompted some European geographers To say that there are two Africas: Black Africa in the region south of the Sahara, and White Africa in the region north of it.
Thanks to its geographical location, the northern half of Africa played an important role in the civilizations of the ancient world, and made a clear contribution to the events of history since ancient times. The peoples of North Africa had relations with the peoples of the ancient world in times of peace and war alike. While the southern part of the continent remained for a long time living in near isolation, hidden by the rest of the ancient world from the rest of the peoples of the ancient world, the ancient civilizations of Black Africa were not affected by the rest of the ancient world civilizations, nor did they influence them as clearly and effectively as was the case for the north of the continent.
