This study examines the spatial planning of the road network in the Souq al-Jumaa Municipality and analyzes the causes of traffic congestion using geographic information systems, drones, and statistical analysis.
The results showed that congestion is primarily due to the failure to fully implement the urban plan, the concentration of services in the western part of the municipality, the large number of daily trips, and encroachments on road lanes. Spatial technologies helped identify congestion sites, evaluate the road network, and determine lane opening priorities.
The study contributed to providing practical solutions to improve traffic flow and service distribution, and promote sustainable urban planning in the municipality.
