Tourism is a new industry that has begun to take its place in the field of global economic activity, becoming one of the economic, social and environmental sectors as well, which has made the current century known as the century of tourism. The evidence of its importance is abundant. The global tourism agreement surpassed the arms agreement in 1977, where the arms agreement reached $300 billion, while the tourism agreement reached $360 billion, which represents more than 6% of the global national product.
Its importance to the global economy is evident from looking at the tourism statistics. In 1969, the total amount spent by 151 million tourists recorded in the statistics in various countries of the world was $15.3 million, in addition to what was spent on international transportation.
The economic, social and environmental effects resulting from tourism activity vary according to its types and activities from one country to another, although there is an indication of a remarkable increase in the positive role that tourism in general plays in the development of the country, and this is due to the interest of developed and developing countries in it alike.
