The Role of Digital Transformation in Supporting Sustainable Development in the Municipality of Gharyan

Abstract

This study aimed to highlight the role of technology in addressing various shortcomings and deficiencies in development projects within the Municipality of Gharyan—whether related to infrastructure, environmental problem-solving, or regional tourism projects. The study employed a descriptive methodology to portray the current situation in the municipality and to emphasize its need for such technologies. It relied on various types of software and open-source technologies, including (ARCMAP 10.8, ARCPRO 3.3, and QGIS(.

The study concluded that there is a clear absence of these technologies and others that rely on the creation of spatial databases in municipal projects, especially service-related ones. Moreover, adopting methodologies for analysis, processing, and future forecasting using these technologies to achieve the intended goals of these projects remains largely theoretical and unimplemented. Relying on these technologies can significantly save time, effort, and costs in project presentation, community participation, implementation, and achieving the desired objectives.
