Economic Resources in Mauritania and Their evelopmental Impacts

Abstract

This study examines the economic potentials of Mauritania and analyzes their developmental implications on society and space. It aims to highlight the country’s main economic resources, including natural resources, productive sectors, and basic economic infrastructure, while assessing their contribution to development processes. The study also investigates the constraints related to limited resource exploitation, uneven spatial distribution, and insufficient supporting infrastructure. Using a geographical analytical approach, it combines description and analysis to explain the relationship between economy and development in Mauritania. The findings indicate that the availability of economic resources does not automatically translate into development outcomes due to structural and institutional constraints.
